Altan & Special Guests

For over four decades, Altan have stood at the forefront of Irish traditional music, earning international acclaim for their vibrant musicianship and deep connection to the rich musical heritage of County Donegal. Formed by acclaimed fiddler and singer Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh and the late flute player Frankie Kennedy, the band emerged from the success of their seminal album Ceol Aduaidh (Music of the North), which celebrated the distinctive traditions of northwest Ireland.

Renowned for performances that range from exhilarating reels and jigs to beautifully expressive songs, Altan have captivated audiences everywhere from small rural halls to world-famous stages including the Royal Albert Hall and Hollywood Bowl. Their influence has been recognised with numerous honours, including a commemorative Irish postage stamp and civic recognition from Donegal County Council.

Led by Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh alongside Ciarán Curran, Mark Kelly, Clare Friel and Martin Tourish, Altan continue to bring passion, authenticity and brilliance to traditional Irish music, remaining one of the genre’s most cherished and enduring bands.
