Barreleye at 1990
On the back of their debut LP reissue, midwesterners Barreleye stop in Glasgow on their UK tour alongside D. Jean-Baptiste and Glasgow's own inimitable Plant Science.
Barreleye are a trio (bass and guitar / drums / electric piano and synthesizers) formed in 2019 in Urbana, Illinois and cutting their teeth in the Illinois DIY show circuit. Their previously sold-out "cult" debut cassette One Eye Glitters (2024) is being reissued on LP by London, UK based Kit Records, mastered by Tortoise's John McEntire. After enjoying their first tour accompanying indie darling Joe Glass (Sharp Pins) in March, they are making the storied leap to the British Isles in June 2026 with fellow traveller D. Jean-Baptiste, joining, among many other friends, post-pop angels Visit Me. All three are active in various groups and improvisation situations, notably the "super conceptual noise duo" ecm and the elusive Shining Example. They like cats, dogs and bickering.

Plant Science are a Glasgow-based post-rock band. The seven-piece weave together tender folk balladry with momentous post-rock crescendos and fiery collective improvisation. Born in 2024 from both the volcanic Glasgow jazz scene, and its revered DIY/hardcore scene, they have quickly been garnering support and praise across the country.
Plant Science have had a breakout year of live performance. Five packed headline shows across Glasgow at the Hug and Pint, SWG3 Poetry Club, Mesh, Old Hairdressers, and a slew of support slots across Scotland have quickly garnered them a reputaon as one of the best live bands in the city. Our band members have shared the stage with MONO, Fergus McCreadie, Corto.alto, Ninush, truthpaste, and many more, with connections across the Scotland/London scenes.
D. Jean-Baptiste is a performer from Chicago experimenting with song by any means necessary. They work heavily with violin, movement, poetry, sampling, and guitar to craft an ever changing, narrative piece. No show is the same, no set follows the same arch. Songs stretch beyond their limit, silence is a weapon.
