City of Glasgow Chorus - "Lux Aeterna" (Lauridsen) and "Free the Spirit" (Rutter)

Join the City of Glasgow Chorus in a concert featuring music from John Rutter (Feel the Spirit) and Morten Lauridsen (Lux Aeterna).

Feel the Spirit is a cycle of seven familiar spirituals, including "Steal away", "I got a robe", and "When the saints go marching in" arranged by John Rutter for mezzo-soprano solo (Cheryl Forbes) and mixed choir.

Known for its luminous harmony and serene atmosphere, Lux Aeterna is a celebrated quasi-Requiem by American composer Morten Lauridsen. The piece consists of five movements: "Introitus", "In Te, Domine, Speravi", "O Nata Lux", "Veni, Sancte Spiritus", and "Agnus Dei - Lux Aeterna".
It is characterised by sacred, meditative, and lyrical qualities, focusing on themes of light and eternal rest, often drawing on Renaissance influences. It is regarded as one of Lauridsen's most popular works and a major 20th-century vocal composition.
