Dean Owens & Friends: All Roads Lead Here... 25 Years a Troubadour
It’s been 25 years since Dean Owens left his iconic Alt Country band The Felsons and embarked on the road as a solo troubadour, armed with a searingly soulful voice and a hatful of songs and stories.
There's been a long and fascinating journey along winding roads that have taken him around the world via Nashville, the Southwestern desert states of the US and the lush Italian hills, playing sold out tours in Europe, the US and Australia.
This includes many encounters with multi-talented fellow troubadours and musicians along the way, notably the mighty Calexico, the legendary Emmylou Harris, Steve Earle, The Mavericks and Nashville stalwarts Will Kimbrough and Neilson Hubbard. Most recently Dean has worked with Italian producer Don Antonio.
Dean has released 12 official solo albums, with a new one on the way in 2027, a 'Best of' and several side projects. Albums have been recorded in Nashville, New York, Tucson, Italy and of course in his beloved Scottish homeland.
His stories about the songs and his travels are almost as entertaining as the songs themselves, which are masterpieces of economic songwriting, both deeply personal and atmospherically cinematic, exploring themes of family and home, the displaced and the wanderers in the world.
Dean is delighted to be bringing it all back home to one of his favourite festivals in one of his favourite cities, which have both meant so much to him over the years.
He will be performing in the stunningly beautiful Mackintosh Church, with a whole host of friends he’s collaborated with over the years, including his old Felsons bandmate Kev McGuire, Amy Geddes, Chris Stout, Kirsten Adamson, Lyle Watt and of course his wonderful band The Sinners, featuring long time sideman Craig Ross on guitar, Adam McMillan, Chuck Dearness and Andy Duncan.
