Donald WG Lindsay - How’ve You Been? and Outwith
Donald WG Lindsay is one of the most distinctive and influential figures in contemporary folk, celebrated as a master piper and pioneering instrument designer. Best known as creator of the ‘Lindsay System’ chanter - extending smallpipes close to three octaves without keys - he now brings that sound into dialogue with film.
In two halves, Lindsay performs live with leading Glasgow improvisers to accompany his short films _How’ve You Been?_ and _Outwith_. The first reflects on years of isolation and return from the remote island of Ascension; the second lets the pipes drift beyond place and tradition, opening a world of spontaneous sound and image. Expect an evening of deep feeling, bold craft, and the meeting of music and memory at their most human.
