Foghorn Stringband and Allison de Groot & Tatiana Hargreaves

Step in from the cold and feel the warmth of real-deal, hard-hitting, old-time American string band music. With nine albums, thousands of shows, and over 20 years of touring, Foghorn Stringband is the present day gold standard of this infectious musical style.

On stage, this fantastic foursome gather around one microphone, balancing their music on the fly, and playing with an intense, fiery abandon. Be ready for some joyful sounds that’ll have your feet stomping and your hands clapping as old time dance tunes rub shoulders with Cajun waltzes, vintage honky tonk country, and classic bluegrass. This is Foghorn Stringband’s second appearance at Celtic Connections, returning 12 years after their debut in 2014.

Allison de Groot & Tatiana Hargreaves have been described as “one living, breathing organism” (Bandcamp Daily). The duo interpret our uncertain times using banjo and fiddle music, drawing inspiration from the sources of meaning in their lives. Their sound together captivates listeners through intricate and interactive dynamics between the banjo and the fiddle.
