International Women's Day 2026

Glasgow life's celebration of international women's day takes place on Friday 6th March in St mungo museum - a fitting venue that connects us back to Glasgow's origins and rich cultural heritage.

The theme of international women's day 2026 is give to gain, or with a Glasgow twist - grit, generosity & gratitude - a celebration of resilience, purpose and progress, set in a city known for its creativity, determination and community spirit.

This event asks a simple but powerful question: what happens when women give their time, knowledge, perspective and guidance in our communities, workplaces and everyday lives and what do we all gain in return?

The event, taking place between 1pm & 4pm, will be hosted by Anne Hughes, speaker, writer and broadcaster. Also joining us to share their wisdom on the day are:

Catherine salmond, editor of the herald newspaper, the world's longest-running national newspaper. Catherine made history in 2022 as the herald's first female editor in its 239-year history. She joined from Scotland on Sunday, where she had also served as editor.

Natalie Logan, ceo at sisco. Natalie is a non-nonsense, passionate mentor who supports people with complex needs and trauma. She runs the addictions recovery cafés in hmp barlinnie and hmp shotts. Both are a safe space that provide Hope, support and aspiration in the harshest of environments to people who need it most.

Jelina berlow-Rahman, who is a human rights lawyer. She started her own firm whilst having kidney dialysis treatment in 2009. Throughout her legal career she has represented the most vulnerable in our society and fought for justice.

It is our intention that this Glasgow life celebration of international women's day in St mungo museum, brings together voices from across Glasgow and beyond to share stories, impart wisdom, spark ideas, and inspire stronger, fairer, more connected communities.

We Hope you can join us - a light lunch and refreshments will also be available.

We would ask that you reserve your tickets for this event.
