Inyal and MAL
Inyal is a boundary-breaking Scottish band renowned for their innovative fusion of mercurial traditional tunes, ethereal songs, and intricate electronics. Their distinctive sound reflects both their deep Gaelic roots and the vibrant, pulsing rhythms of modern Glasgow’s underground scene.
Known for genre-defying compositions and energetic live performances, INYAL seamlessly draws on Scotland's rich folk heritage to create a sound that is uniquely their own. In 2026, INYAL returns to the stage to showcase their highly anticipated new album, _Fathoms_. Across its nine tracks, the album synthesizes reverberating drums, deft arrangements, and captivating Gaelic vocals, forming a singular and dramatic work. INYAL will perform _Fathoms_ in its entirety at Celtic Connections, accompanied by some of Scotland’s most renowned traditional musicians.
MAL is a bold new force in Scotland’s music scene, fusing the raw energy of underground electronic beats with the soul of traditional folk instruments. At the helm is visionary harpist Malachy Arnold, who reimagines the harp as a driving force in genres like techno, house, and jungle-placing it where few have dared before.
He’s joined by a powerhouse lineup: Finn MacPherson (whistle/pipes), Macaulay Ross (fiddle), Gillie O'Flaherty (synth/keys), and Grace Morton (vocals). Together, they craft a sound that’s both ancient and futuristic-where euphoric drops meet haunting melodies, and tradition pulses with rave energy.
