Kelvingrove Bite - Framing the Narrative: Restoring the Dunlop Family Portrait
Glasgow Life Museums was delighted to be gifted a portrait of the Dunlop family from about 1846 by Glasgow artist Daniel Macnee. However, the period frame arrived in poor condition.
Using traditional materials and practices, the frame was cleaned, broken pieces carefully reassembled, missing parts recreated and the whole regilded.
Join frame conservator Sophie Kostin as she gives a unique insight into the restoration of this intricately made and lovingly conserved Victorian artefact.
Free 15 min talk. No need to book. Please meet at the info desk in the main hall 5 mins before.
