Mama Terra and Ariane Mamon
Enjoy slick soul and frenetic be-bop from hotly-tipped jazz duo, Mama Terra. Pianist Marco Cafolla and saxophonist Konrad Wiszniewski swing into Saint Luke’s for their maiden Celtic Connections appearance.
The pair have gone from strength to strength since their debut album, The Summoned, was released to critical acclaim. Debut single, Ruptura, went straight in at number one on the iTunes Jazz chart, and a nomination for ‘Breakthrough Act 2025’ at the Jazz FM Awards soon followed. Their second studio album, Inner Space, was launched at the world famous Ronnie Scott’s in London to a standing ovation. “Bursts with zeal and vigour.” (MOJO)
Acclaimed by Worldwide FM as a rising voice to watch in the British Jazz scene, Ariane Mamon has established herself as one of the most versatile jazz vocalists and innovative jazz artists in Scotland. Drawing influence from her rich cultural background, Ariane brings her powerhouse vocals to her world-infused contemporary jazz epics, expressing themes of interconnectedness, a return to the wild, and celebrating the fierce feminine in nature.
Accompanied by bassist David Bowden from the Fergus McCreadie Trio, keyboardist Ewan Johnston, and drummer Greg Irons, expect intricate electrifying grooves, over soaring melodies and fierce wild vocals, in a contemporary jazz journey weaving in and out of imprints of Scottish, Eastern-European, Brazilian, and Middle-Eastern music.
