Mother's Day Ceramic Vase Workshops
Treat your Mum to a special Mother’s Day activity and learn how to make a ceramic flower vase with Studio Yōki using the hand building techniques pinching and coiling.
Discover how to hand-build your own ceramic flower vase in these engaging workshops. Over three hours, I’ll guide you through the enjoyable process of creating a unique vessel from clay.
In this hands-on activity, I will demonstrate essential techniques and provide support as you learn:
- Getting comfortable with clay properties and preparation.
- Using pinching and coiling techniques to build your vase's form.
- Methods for securely joining clay sections and achieving a smooth surface.
- Tips for shaping and refining your unique vase design.
These workshops are perfectly suited for individuals new to ceramics who want to learn the basics. However, those with previous clay experience looking to practise their hand-building skills are also very welcome.
All clay, tools, and necessary equipment for the activity are provided. We will start with a practice ball of clay to get a feel for the material before beginning our vases. After the workshop, I will handle the finishing touches for you – applying my shimmer white glaze and firing your creation.
