MUMS - A Shared Story of Motherhood

The show pairs new work by artist Marie-Claire Lacey - made during her time as artist in residence, drawing on her own autobiographical experience - with work made by a community of new mums in workshops she and nine guest artists facilitated in Glasgow.

Expect a real mix: moving image works exploring maternal time, overwhelm, mental load, and the visceral experience of motherhood, large-scale collaborative psychogeographic narrated paintings, an interactive piece asking what ‘mother’ looks like, plus clay, textile installation, collage and text shaped by the stories, reflections and creative practice of a growing community of new mums and mother-artists.

The project was part of a wider artistic research project led by Marie-Claire which explored maternal experiences. So, come and see what happens when community arts, mental health and motherhood share a room.

N.B. The exhibition takes place at the Greater Govanhill Community Canvas (mezzanine level of Tramway)
