Natalie Haas & Friends: Scottish Cello Night

Renowned American cellist Natalie Haas brings her trademark blend of virtuosity and warmth to this special Celtic Connections showcase, tracing the instrument’s remarkable journey through Scottish folk traditions on both sides of the Atlantic. Once the rhythmic backbone of Scottish dance music, the cello continues to evolve in today’s vibrant folk scene and is experiencing quite the revival, due in no small part to Natalie’s playing and teaching.

Joining her for the night are three leading players from today’s Scottish folk scene - Alice Allen, Su-a Lee, and Juliette Lemoine, with special guest appearances from Alison McGillivray, Wendy Weatherby, Neil Johnstone, Rufus Huggan, Seylan Baxter and Trish Strain. A rare chance to hear so many folk cellists together, this concert promises an evening of energy, history and versatility; a must for lovers of tradition with an ear for new horizons.
