Peking Opera

Peking Opera in Glasgow brings Chinese opera into the city through live performance, voice, movement and gesture. Audiences can experience its distinctive performance language up close and see how stories and emotions are communicated beyond words.

The event creates a meeting point between Chinese opera and Glasgow, opening up new ways to experience performance across languages and cultures. It is an invitation to watch, listen, stay curious, and perhaps discover that a raised eyebrow or a flick of a sleeve can say more than expected.

This event is part of Being Human Festival, the UK’s national festival of humanities, taking place 5-14 November 2026. Being Human is led by the School of Advanced Study, University of London in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Academy.
