Welcome to Queer Folks’ Tales, Scotland’s hugely popular, multi-award-winning and five-star-rated LGBTQ+ storytelling show. We are fresh from winning the "Best of the Queer Fringe Award 2026" at the Edinburgh Fringe (out of 340 LGBTQ+ Fringe shows)!
Queer Folks’ Tales tells the stories of LGBTQ+ lives past, present and future and is delighted to continue its 5th year of shows across Scotland by coming to the Citizens Theatre. Every show has a different line-up featuring LGBTQ+ storytellers from around Scotland sharing stories of queer experience here and beyond.
Sometimes hilarious, often moving, occasionally shocking, the mix of true and fictional stories is as varied as the range of storytellers we invite. Household names feature alongside new and diverse queer storytellers from the different communities of Scotland. Many of the stories told on Queer Folks’ Tales evenings will be true stories of LGBTQ+ experience in Scotland today. The tales might be told as stories, or poems or within songs - a vibrant mix of storytelling forms.
Hosted as always by Edinburgh’s Turan Ali, (stand-up and producer of BBC drama/comedy) who is joined this month by three Glasgow-based artists: celebrated trans poet/performer Gray Crosbie, award-winning comedian Eliott Simpson, and the genre-defying Zimbabwean singer Eyve, fresh from appearing at the opening ceremony of Glasgow’s Commonwealth Games. There'll be a different line up for the Halloween show.
