Sapphic Cinema Club presents: "Water Lillies"

Were soo excited to be bringing Water Lillies to the big screen, from the mommy of modern lesbian cinema herself, Celine Sciamma.

Sciamma is known from her active deviation from the use of the male gaze in her films, and her debut feature is no different. In the story, a young Marie develops an overwhelming desire for captain of the local synchronised swimming team, Floriane, an aloof and uncompromising figure in Maries yearning-filled world. Water Lillies rewrites heteronormative conventions of voyeuristic desire through every scene, character and camera angle.

Accompanying us on our night of covert desire is short film Sissy Puss from Glasgow-based director Lara Delmage. An avant-garde folk horror that uses sapphic longing as its jumping-off point when eccentric loner Kat is stunned out of her bizarre routine by ethereal Cat. It is with the animal impulse that Kat knows she must have her.

Weve changed location for this one - but only up the road! Well be at GMACs screening room, with doors open from 19:30 for an 8pm start.
