Sarah Markey with Arthur Coates & Kerran Cotterell

Sarah Markey is a traditional flautist, singer and harpist from Coatbridge, Scotland. In 2019, she was a BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year finalist, and the release of her debut album Leaving Lurgangreen earned her a nomination for an Up and Coming Artist of the Year in the 2022 MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards.

“With its intelligent arrangements and alert, involving playing, Sarah’s beautifully presented debut album is a clear winner.” - The Living Tradition.

Leaving Lurgangreen presents a creative blend of Irish, Scottish and Asturian music, taking listeners on her own musical journey that reflects on themes of heritage, immigration, family and friendship.

Having recently moved to county Galway Ireland, she continues to strengthen her musical connections and heritage with one Ireland’s most renowned cities for music and is a regular performer in concerts/sessions there.
