Sun's Out by Alastair Kingsbury

The debut exhibition of 35mm photographer Alastair Kingsbury. Drawn from ten years of compulsively documenting street life in Glasgow and beyond.

Kingsbury has spent the last decade carrying his camera through the streets of Glasgow, capturing moments of absurdity, ambiguity, beauty and joy. Powered by a restless FOMO whenever the sun is out, he documents the unexpected in everyday life as it plays out on the street.

Life as a street photographer can be tough in a city with precious little sunlight, and scattered through the exhibition are gems from ventures further afield. Inspired by the likes of Joel Meyerowitz, Alex Webb and Harry Gruyaert, Kingsbury is drawn to the moments he can't plan for. As Martine Franck put it, "you have to be constantly watching for it, ready to welcome the unexpected."
