Susanna Orr Holland & Friends + Steeljoy
Edinburgh-based Susanna’s unique style is rooted in the Scottish and Irish ballad tradition but influenced by Indian and Persian vocal techniques. Her heartfelt song-writing weaves polyphony and harmony with a dynamic mix of instruments creating a tapestry of changing moods and landscapes. Accompanying herself on guitar and Indian harmonium, she’ll be joined by Chris Lyons on bayan accordion, oud and cello (Blue Giant Orkestar), Tom Adams on violin (Orkestra del Sol) and Tim Lane on drums and percussion (Hidden Orkestra). A three octave voice that forges marvel where sorrow and darkness merge with wildness and tenderness. This special Glasgow performance is a part of a series of performances following the release of her second album Return of the Swallows.
Steeljoy are an energetic all women and non-binary band combining indie rock with genre- spanning bittersweet melodies and multilingual hard-hitting lyrics (English, Irish (Gaeilge) & Gàidhlig) exploring intersectional issues of discrimination, environmental destruction and more. Their album All Us On Fire; released in 2024 to critical acclaim. “The uniquely brilliant set from Steeljoy made it truly a night to remember!” - Radio Wigwam
