Tarran and Llau
Glasgow-based TARRAN blend exceptional musicianship with a fresh contemporary edge, putting dynamic harp and fiddle playing at the centre of their sound, backed by driving piano, bodhrán and drum kit. Pushing traditional Scottish and Irish music into bold new territory, the group fuses their stylistic roots with intricate, modern arrangements. Following a nomination for Sound of Young Scotland at the 2025 SAY Awards, the band now return with their debut album, The Turning Ground.
At its heart, the album explores the ties connecting Europe’s Atlantic edge, following the shared musical threads between Scotland, Ireland, Brittany and Galicia. The music brings together tunes from these traditions alongside original compositions, carried by rich harmonic layers and rhythmic influences from Latin America. The Turning Ground represents TARRAN’s new sound.
To celebrate the release, TARRAN will perform The Turning Ground in full at Celtic Connections, in the beautiful surroundings of the Mackintosh Church.
