Make the most of longer days with our top spring walks in Glasgow, from cherry blossoms to Highland cows and city parks.

Cherry blossoms in bloom

Nothing says spring like cherry blossom trees in full bloom. Glasgow city centre has great spots to see them at Glasgow Green and Blythswood Square. When you walk into the main entrance of Glasgow Green, you’ll see McLennan Arch, a famous city landmark. The park is Glasgow’s oldest and has lots of open space for families to enjoy.

Don’t miss Templeton on the Green, a bright and colourful building that used to be a carpet factory.

Spend the day in Glasgow's biggest park

Pollok Country Park is set within the southside of the city. Lots of families, walkers, and cyclists visit. There are two must-see places in the park: The Burrell Collection and Pollok House, an Edwardian mansion by the river.

Spring is the best time to see the fluffy baby Highland cows within the park. Go to the Burrell Collection to learn more about the museum and the park.

A family-friendly stroll in the east end

Alexandra Park is a favourite place for people who like to walk in the east part of the city. You can go in through the pretty gates and see lots of flowers starting to bloom for spring.

The park is not too big, and it has children's playgrounds and places for picnics. For more information on Alexandra Park, visit Glasgow City Council.

Nature spotting along the water's edge

Just 5 minutes north of the city centre is the Forth and Clyde Canal where a range of walks can be enjoyed. Take a stroll along the towpath and enjoy a different view of the city.

If you're a fan of wildlife, then this is the place to go. There are kingfishers, beavers, common toads, otters and swans living along the canalside.

For ideas on which wildlife to look out for and for information on canal trails visit Scottish Canals. Make sure to also include a coffee pitstop at the community led cafe Gathering Ground.
