Art and design are woven into the very fabric of Sauchiehall Street. Contemporary galleries and public art projects add fresh layers of creativity, making the street a living gallery where heritage and innovation meet.

The District is home to the legacy of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, whose design can be experienced at the iconic Mackintosh at the Willow Tearooms.

Experience larger-scale exhibitions at institutions like Glasgow School of Art and the CCA, and more intimate shows at Grateful Gallery and RGI Kelly Gallery. Here, a new generation of artists adds to the heritage of the District.

Grateful Gallery’s work extends beyond its walls with a new mural commission each month, animating the streets. A few doors down, visit Fireworks Ceramics studio and shop. Feeling inspired? Head along to Paint and Mortar to pick up your own art supplies.

Charles Rennie Mackintosh is the more famous architect on the street but don’t miss the genius of Alexander ‘Greek’ Thomson. Thomson's Grecian Chambers are now home to the CCA.

Whether it’s a truck coming out of the front of a nightclub, an art deco hotel or chooky bird on a light when you’re here always be sure to look up!

Explore galleries, design shops, and public art — every corner tells a story.
