Splatter Pattern Placemat Workshop using Jesmonite Eco Resin
Craft your own placemat using Jesmonite AC100 - an eco-friendly, solvent-free & water-based alternative to resin, used for casting various homewares and decorative objects.
In this 2.5 hour workshop I’ll introduce you to Jesmonite AC100 and it’s various uses, and show you how to use it to create your own placemat to take home and use on your dining table! For this workshop I will be teaching you the technique of splattering to produce a set of placemat with Jackson Pollock inspired splatter patterns.
During this workshop I will show you:
How to mix and pigment Jesmonite AC100 with your own choice of colours
How to pour and cast Jesmonite AC100 using silicone moulds
How to make a placemat with a splatter pattern
How to safely demould your creations
Tips for how to finish your pieces to give a more professional look
How to seal your pieces to protect them against general wear and tear
This workshop is aimed at beginners so no previous experience working with Jesmonite is necessary. You will start with a smaller mould to make a practice piece before moving on to your finished piece.
All materials and equipment needed for the activity is provided.
Jesmonite needs to be sealed to protect from wear and tear so each attendee is provided with a kit at the end of the workshop containing acrylic sealer and a cloth to take home and apply to their pieces following the workshop.
