Superposition
Marking the centenary of the Schrödinger equation; a world-first art show exploring the ideas behind quantum physics.
Sixteen artworks spin at 400 revolutions per minute. Thousands of holes cut through sheets of aluminium appear to tunnel through space, transforming flat surfaces into shifting, three-dimensional forms.
For a moment, the artworks seem to become something that shouldn't exist. Then they stop spinning and the 3D forms collapse back into 2D patterns and the illusion disappears.
One mystery remains. Each artwork has an identical twin. When they stop spinning, most of the twins behave exactly as chance would predict: they show the same sides half the time and opposite sides half the time. But one pair doesn't. They show the same sides three quarters of the time. How does this pair know what their twin is doing?
